I’ve been swimming with her demons
Every night we won’t fall asleep
She seems to think I can hear her pleading
Though I’m not quite sure she’s saying please.
I think her eyes are dark with lust
But mine are closed as desire says they must
Her skin feels thin and torn like paper
I know her lines won’t guide me later
And my neck is bruised with fading teeth
I guess she’s never learnt to kiss
Her forehead reads «sorry bout the mess»
Though my lips are lost so it could be her chest.
However, I could not ever know
She’s screaming now but
Forgets where the screams will go
(we’ve grown old with our eyes shut)
Her fists are clenched where my heart would die
Had she not snatched it without batting an eye.
